The ADA measures ‘overweight’ and ‘obese’ by calculating an adult’s Body Mass Index (BMI), which compares your height and weight (www.eatright.org). People with a high BMI (above 24.5) have increased risk factors for many diseases, but may lower their risk by eating right and exercising.

Participants in DHM’s Obesity Education Week will learn how to calculate their BMI, discover risk factors, receive tools to lead a healthier, more active lifestyle, and enter to win copies of bestseller, “Eat This! Not That!”  On Thursday 3/18, the hospital’s Dietician and Diabetes Educator will show participants ways to make smarter choices whether eating out or cooking at home.

Please RSVP for any of the day lectures by calling 857-7525 by March 13, 2010.
